Dr. Diggity: It’s a HOT DOG!
Quote for Today: Some people wanted champagne and caviar when they should have had beer and hot dogs. Dwight D. Eisenhower
Today is National Hot Dog Day. I would have thought the fourth of this month would be a better frankfurter day. But hey, what do I know? One thing I do know is that the once cursed log of mystery meat is now more popular than ever.
If you have read our blog before you already know that the Chili Cheese Dog with mustard and lots of onion from The Varsity in Atlanta is King as far as we are concerned. Another favorite are the Coney’s from Skyline Chili based in Cincinnati. The Dew Drop Inn in Mobile, Alabama also makes a dog that is hard to beat. With all this said, here is our top 5 list of dogs we would like to sample.
5) The Three Dog Night from Pink’s in Hollywood, California. The most unique looking dog we’ve ever seen.

4) J Dawgs in Salt Lake City, Utah. Any place opened by a broke college student in an abandoned shack that ends up on Fox’s News is worth a try.
3) Sammy’s Wild Game Grill in Houston, Texas. Just because we have never had an Antelope or Elk hot dog.
Ben’s Chili Bowl
2) Ben’s Chili Bowl in Washington D.C. It was originally a silent movie theater built in 1910 and the long lines waiting to get in are usually a good sign.
Finally coming in at number one is the Bæjarins beztu pylsur in Reykjavík, Iceland. Literally translated into “Town’s best,” this tiny place has been serving their hot dogs for over 60 years. What better way to finish a hot dog journey than in Iceland. Rest those barking dogs, CJ & Chef TJ
