Mother’s Day Tribute 2017

Mother's Day Tribute, Roadtrips R Us

Quote of the Day: Mothers hold their children’s hands for a short while, but their hearts forever. Anonymous

One of the most important days in the year is Sunday, May 14th – Mother’s Day. It is the biggest holiday behind Christmas Eve and Easter for the sale of flowers, greeting cards, long-distance calls, and special gifts. This is also the busiest day of the year for restaurants.

Mother’s Day Tribute 2017

What were its humble beginnings?

Brief History – Anna Jarvis trademarked the phrases, “Second Sunday in May,” and “Mother’s Day” in 1912. She created the Mother’s Day International Association. It was her mother’s dream of making the day a celebration of all mothers. The idea took off with the help of wealthy Philadelphia merchant, John Wanamaker and with the support of President Woodrow Wilson, this day became an official holiday in 1914. The holiday was adopted by other countries and spread worldwide with celebration closely linked to existing culture.
