Great American Eclipse 2017

Quote of the Day: Nations, like stars, are entitled to eclipse. All is well, provided the light returns and the eclipse does not become endless night. Dawn and resurrection are synonymous. The reappearance of the light is the same as the survival of the soul. Victor Hugo

Many folks are traveling now specifically to enjoy viewing the 2017 solar eclipse on Monday, August 21st. We wish you safe travels and remind you to use your special solar eclipse glasses. If you don’t have a pair yet, check with your local library. There have been more than 2 million ISO-compliant safe solar eclipse glasses distributed to more than 6,900 libraries across the US.  Special thanks to NASA, Google, and the Gordon and Betty Moore Foundation, the Space Science Institute’s STAR_Net initiative have stepped up to provide free glasses to the public. Note that securing a pair may require your participation in an eclipse programming event.

Other optionsWarby Parker eyeglasses chain is handing out free solar eclipse glasses at their 47 locations. Check with the one nearest you for they are going in a hurry.

Your local Walmart, Kroger and many chain service stations like 7-Eleven, Pilot/Flying J, and others may still have some in stock. Good luck!

See history in the making by watching the great American eclipse this August 21st 2017. The next solar eclipse will not occur until April 8, 2024, according to NASA. This eclipse (2017) will stretch diagonally across the U.S. from Texas through the Northeast US.
